Working together across East Kent

News item posted: 19 June 2017

Every four months Turning Point in East Kent host the Substance Misuse Partnership Forum, where staff supporting people affected by drugs and alcohol come together to discuss recent trends, guidance, good practice, challenges and joint working.

This week over 40 GPs, pharmacists, health trainers and social care staff attended to hear about Turning Point’s Resolution Clinic, an evening service for people concerned about their alcohol use, and a presentation by Dr Vincent Malawo on Alcohol Dependency Treatment.

Andy Power, Senior Operations Manager at Turning Point in East Kent said: 'This is a really useful forum for everyone in the area working to support people affected by addiction. We arrange these events to inform but also discuss with stakeholders how to work more closely and reduce duplication in the tough operating environment we’re in. At the session this week there was lots of discussion around alternate funding streams and the use of IT to reduce costs and improve quality of service.'
