John Campbell, Turning Point’s Managing Director for Mental Health services said of today’s new Taskforce report:

'This is a welcome vision for mental health services that highlights the important role community organisations like Turning Point have to play in reducing the inequalities still facing people with mental health issues. It is hoped that this report, by a Government appointed taskforce, represents a pivotal moment in addressing the inequalities and barriers to treatment and support that people experiencing mental health issues face.

'The onus is now on the government, commissioners and all providers to be ambitious and work with people using services to fund and implement the taskforce recommendations.

'The time for talking has long passed; action is now needed to ensure that we instigate meaningful change at all levels of the system. If we don’t, people will continue to lose their lives because of unacceptable gaps in what should be a universal service.'
