Turning Point responds to publication of Mental Health Taskforce report

In response to publication of the report from the independent Mental Health Taskforce, Turning Point’s chief executive Lord Victor Adebowale said:

'This report and its recommendations once again identify the glaring gaps in mental health provision, the huge cost of mental ill health and that we need to do things differently if we are ever going to have a mental health system that is fit for purpose.

'The government, those in charge of commissioning and the bodies which regulate health and social care, need to be more ambitious in their approach. Services for physical and mental health care need to be fully integrated with each other and utilise the many strengths in our communities to develop new solutions. Only then can we reduce the number of people in crisis admitted to emergency units, and improve life expectancy for those with mental health issues.'
