In response to Jeremy's Hunt's speech at the Conservative Party Conference in Birmingham Lord Victor Adebowale, Chief Executive of Turning Point, said;

"I support Jeremy Hunt's focus on quality care and patient experience; these are central to every service that Turning Point operates. I entirely welcome his commitment to implementing the Dilnot recommendations as soon as possible but we need more details. We need to know when they will be implemented. We need to know what will be done to end the current confusion and worry that exits for countless people who are still unsure of how much they will pay for their future social care needs.

Jeremy Hunt says that our biggest priority must be to transform what we offer to meet the challenge of an ageing population. I don't question the importance of this but the emphasis on older people shouldn't retract focus from what we offer to meet the challenges of people of working age with a learning disability, mental health issues or other complex needs. Jeremy Hunt made no mention in his speech of Mental Health and parity of esteem with physical health as outlined in the 'No Health without Mental Health' framework. This is disappointing. We need to make sure mental health is given the emphasis it needs to ensure continued and positive change in this area."
