In response to the Chief Medical Officer's Annual Report, Lord Victor Adebowale, Chief Executive of Turning Point said;

"The lack of parity of esteem that continues to exist for those with mental health issues, compared to people with physical health conditions, is simply unacceptable. This report adds to the growing body of research which highlights the vital importance of investing in mental health services."

"Significant challenges exist if we are to address parity of esteem, such as the inherent discrimination people with mental health issues face at every level of the system, the undermining impact of funding cuts on equality of provision and challenges around data collection and use, to name but a few. We cannot afford to ignore this issue and we must strive for consistency of approach across funding, leadership, integration and implementation if this inequality is to be resolved."
