‘Psychological Therapies - Next Steps Towards Parity of Care’ is a new report looking at the effectiveness of talking therapies. Mel Shad, Turning Point’s Head of Business Development for Mental Health contributed to the report, highlighting the benefits of talking therapies and the need for further expansion of services locally.

Commenting on its publication Mel said: ‘This report highlights the benefits of talking therapies, of which there are many, but also recommends improvements to the way services are commissioned to deliver greater choice and new models of care.

‘At Turning Point we know from the people we support that they want to choose how they engage with the service. That’s why we deliver a range of therapies via a number of channels including over the phone, video chat, one to one meetings and group sessions.

‘It is also important that we have a range of providers delivering talking therapies and the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector have a great deal to offer in regards to breaking down some of the stigma associated with mental health and expanding the reach of talking therapies to the people and communities who can benefit the most.’
