One year anniversary of Somerset SMART Recovery service

On Friday 6th July 2012 Turning Point and SMART RecoveryUK celebrated the one year anniversary of the Somerset-wide SMART Recovery service:  a self - help programme supporting people manage their recovery from addictive behaviour with substances such as alcohol and drugs.  

For the last 12 months weekly meetings have been held inGlastonbury, Frome,Bridgewater, Yeovil andTauntonwhere participants are supported in their recovery to build and maintain motivation; cope with urges, manage thoughts, feelings and behaviours and live a balanced life. 

Michael Huck from Turning Point Community Access Programme coordinating SMART acrossSomersetsaid, "We're so happy to have celebrated this year's work. It's been a great start but we're moving forward, training people who have used the service to run the service, so that the community can take control and support each other's recovery, hopefully by this time next year!"
