Lord Victor Adebowale responds to NHS Digital's Survey of Mental Health and Wellbeing

Commenting on the NHS Digital Adult Psychiatric Morbidity Survey published on Thursday showing the prevalence of mental health issues among adults in England, Turning Point’s Chief Executive Lord Victor Adebowale said:

'The survey shows there's been a significant increase in the number of people with anxiety or depression seeking treatment. It also highlights that those who are black and Asian are disproportionately affected by mental health issues.

'It's deeply concerning though that support that does exist often fails to meet the specific needs of individuals. The government must follow through on it's pledge that mental health will be treated on an equal basis with physical health. This will only happen if there is proper investment in services which are tailored to ensure individuals get the right care when they need it.'
