"The Deputy Prime Minister's call for better crisis care is welcome. In particular, his focus on preventative care, and on parity of esteem between mental health and physical health services in the NHS highlighted key challenges in the care of those with mental health conditions all providers must address.

"The Deputy Prime Minister's call to address stigma is also important, and an issue that everyone can help tackle. A willingness to discuss suicidal feelings and other mental health challenges does a huge amount to reduce the stigma that makes life harder for those experiencing mental ill-health, and which can dissuade people from seeking the help they need.

"Not everyone has a mental illness, but everyone has mental health, and its status has as big an impact on our wellbeing as our physical health. It's highly encouraging to hear politicians re-emphasise the need for more effective integration between mental and physical health services but we need to turn the rhetoric into action."
