Lord Adebowale responds to news that ambulance response times have increased

In response to the news that ambulance response times have increased by 30 seconds, Lord Victor Adebowale, Chief Executive of Turning Point and Chair of the Independent Commission on Mental Health and Policing said;

"The announcement that ambulance response times are rising is extremely worrying. It is another barrier to achieving parity of esteem for those experiencing a mental health crisis who already receive a less equitable service compared to those with a physical health condition.

In a health emergency people need an eight minute response by an ambulance. If they're not getting one we need to urgently address the commissioning and funding of the service to ensure they can. We cannot afford not to get this right."
